How I/we told about Baby W...

September 28, 2012...was the 'official' day that we found out!

I had told Tate earlier that week that I thought we were 'out' again that month because I was spotting (TMI...sorry). He was of course supportive and just said...then we got this next month. I on the other hand was PISSED and when I want something...I usually want it right away. I hate a waiting game! But I knew I had to trust that God was going to bless us when it was our time.

My monthly friend was supposed to show up on that Tuesday and I was just still spotting...which NEVER happens. My cycle is like clockwork and so I get hopeful that MAYBE I was. I took a pregnancy test on that Tuesday and Wednesday and saw the faintest of lines so I blew it off that I was just seeing something and making it up in my mind.

I didn't say anything to Tate all week because I didn't want him to get his hopes up so he just keep thinking...we weren't pregnant.

Friday rolled around and I was convinced I was pregnant. I stopped @ Target after work and got a digital pregnancy test so that it would be certain with words instead of a stupid line. I was a bit hesitant to waste a test on a Friday afternoon since they say your morning urine is the best to test with...but I did it anyway since another test came in the pack! Well...3 LONG minutes later...PREGNANT showed up and I was squealing with excitement!

Tate was gone coaching his football team so I had to sit around and wait until he got home @ 11 pm to share the news. But with him being gone, I had time to set up on how to tell him.

For those that don't know, Tate worked @ the Gap for a bit in college. He always says he knows 'fashion' since he worked there. I always make fun of him when he says that because the only reason he worked there was for the discount, not because he knew anything about fashion. But I wanted to incorporate this into telling him.

I put this sign on the door from the garage coming into the house!

When I picked up the pregnancy tests from Target that Friday, I had also picked up a 5 pack of uni-sex onesies, just in case. I knew these would come in handy sooner or later...hopefully sooner! I pinned them to a string of twine and had them hung right when you walked in from the garage for Tate to see with a sign that said "HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL" in continuation from the above sign.

To say Tate was shocked is an understatement...he couldn't believe it! He kept saying...'Are you serious?' only because I had told him earlier in the week that I knew my period was coming. I've never seen him grin so much in my life...it was so special being able to tell him this!!!

Mya doesn't know what to think...and hates when I ask her to sit there so I can take a picture!!!

Super excited Dad to be!!!!

For the rest of the evening we just enjoyed this moment to ourselves! We were the only ones that knew and couldn't believe we were going to be parents!!! Dreams were coming true and we were feeling so blessed! Our prayers had been answered! We just continued to pray that this was our time and that this baby would be joining us late spring as a healthy boy or girl!!!

The only people we told during the first 12 weeks were our best friends! We knew that information could be trusted with them and we wanted to tell at least one person each since we would want to talk about it!!! They were SUPER excited for us! Both of our best friends are parents themselves so they knew exactly what excitement we were feeling and we knew we could go to them for questions!

After 12 very long weeks...it was FINALLY time to share the news with our parents and siblings!!! First up, were my parents. They were coming the weekend before Thanksgiving to help with house stuff and get ready since we were hosting Thanksgiving on that Sunday for my Dad's side of the family. We really wanted to tell everyone on that Sunday, but since we still hadn't heard the heartbeat, we were hesitant because we wanted to make sure everything was OK before sharing it with so many people. So we decided we were only going to tell my parents and siblings that weekend.

So my parents arrived on Saturday and I had thought of the perfect way of telling them. We still hadn't given them a wedding album they were so patiently waiting for and I finally had it to give to them. Inside the cover was a blank page which I had placed a collage of 3 photos. One was the pregnancy test (above) and the other two were the photos from my post last week announcing it on here. I had told them we were so thankful for everything that they did for our wedding and with the house so we wrote a special note for them inside the cover of the book and they had to read it together. My parents sat @ the table and my mom just kept gushing over the book. They finally opened the cover and stared at the pictures forever. After about 20 seconds...they picked up what were were laying down ;) and they both started crying!!! This will be the first grandchild for my parents (and Tate's parents too) and I feel like they have been waiting forever. It was so fun to see the joy on their faces and give them their first grandchild!!!

We told my siblings the next day when they arrived before everyone else. My sister opened the book and knew right away...took her .5 seconds. They were very excited also!! First lil' niece or nephew! We just know our lil baby is already so loved!!!

We were able to tell Tate's parents and siblings when we went home for Thanksgiving on the Wed of that same week we told my parents. We had heard the heartbeat on Tuesday and was given the ok that everything was good and there is less than a 1% chance now of anything bad happening. We decided to get his parents picture frames that said 'I love Grandma' for his mom and 'Grandpa and me' for his dad. We decided to put a picture of the ultrasound in it for now and will change the picture once baby arrives! Tate's mom was screaming with excitment! She's been asking for a grandchild since the day we got married...so it was pretty special moment to finally give that to her! Tate's dad was very excited also! He's been telling everyone about the great news...but not to call him Grandpa yet, he's too young for that ;)

It's also been fun telling all our friends. We were able to tell some in person, called some friends and also sent out text messagses! Everyone is so excited! People are already prediciting if it's a boy or girl. Trying to figure it if it will be born on my birthday (due 6/3, my 30th is 6/4)! What the name will be...it's so fun talking about and hear what they all have to say about it!

We are so blessed to have so many people in our lives that care and share in our excitment! We feel very lucky to have such great support during this big new adventure we are embarking on!
