Office Space

Do you have a case of the Mondays? I hope not since today is Wednesday...but with my title being the same title of a very funny movie...I just had to ask :)
I wanted to give an update on our office I have been updating.

What it looked like @ the beginning of the year

After my first initial organization project

We decided to paint the office to match the new desk that I had transformed.

Here is the 2 painted colors up close with the fabric I used to upholster the chairs.

After the paint dried, we brought in the new desk and put the other items in place.

Before adding the mirror

Loving the mirror addition. Purchased from Ikea for only $50!!!

Having an issue here. We purchased new handles for the closet. The gold one...is the problem. The screw is stripped and we can't get it out. We've researched the internet and tried everything to be able to get it out...it's not budging.

In order to transform all our gold to a nice bronze...I've decided that we are going to keep the old ones...but spray paint them the bronze color that we are looking for. I will tape off the door all around the knob so I don't get any on the wood...and hope that it turns out. I still have the one from the other door, so I will return the ones we bought and spray paint that one as well.

This is the color I plan to do the knobs. I am also thinking about doing the file cabinet in our office in this color. As you see in the pictures above, it's just a ugly cream/tan color, it would be nice to have it blend in with everything else.

We changed out the door handle from an ugly gold to this nice bronze. We also changed all the outlets to the bronze. I love eliminating the 90's gold from our house...even if it is one room at a time.

This is the view from our new office desk. I love it :) It's so fun to blog and watch my shows. I hated sitting on the couch with my laptop and watching TV...not my thing. So now...I love that I am able to do both and be comfortable!

The list of items still needed to be done:
- Spray paint closet door knobs
- Find curtains for window
- Spray paint file cabinet
- Do pinterest project with mom that is wall decor for office
- Frames and pictures for desk
- Make small book shelf?! (undecided yet)

The Bachelorette

I loved this weeks episode. Certain guys start to stand out more that I like and the ones that I thought I liked...I no longer like.

First one-on-one date was with Chris.

I thought they had a great date! I loved the Luke Bryant concert! I really like Chris, but I honestly don't think he is the 'one'. I think he will go far, but will not be in the top 3.

Her group date this week involved the guys meeting her best friends and getting 'drilled' by them. I thought they asked very tough questions. She also put them all to the test when it came to children. Dozens of kids came to the park so Emily could see how the guys interacted with them. One person that stood out to me that I didn't even think about in previous episodes was Sean. He is a sweetheart and I think he a very genuine guy. I think Sean could be in the top 3.

Her last one-on-one date of this week was with Arie. I spoke about Arie in the first week. This episode we were able to get to know him better and find out if he would be a good fit for Emily. I could tell Emily really likes him and she even mentioned that he was a lot like her daughters father. I still think Arie goes far, in fact...I think he will be in the top 2. My gut tells me since he does remind her of her late ex, that he won't be the one she picks.

The cocktail was another interesting one. Emily sent Alessandro home right away because he looked at Emily's daughter as a 'compromise' instead of a blessing. By watching this show, you can tell that Emily is a very protective mama bear. Sending him home was the right thing...she knows what she wants and if she doesn't see it with you...then there is no reason to waste her time or the guys.

After watching this week...I have my top 3 picks for this show. I think it will be Arie, Doug and Sean. I had recently thought Ryan would be up there...but after this weeks episode, I don't think so and I don't seem as a good fit for Emily. Doug is my favorite right now. He received the first impression rose on night one...but hasn't had a one-on-one date yet.

My opinion could change as the weeks go by...but at this point, the front runners start to stand out and the others just seem like 'fillers' to keep the show going. Looking forward to next week already.

Random Thursday Post

I could blog about our updated office space...but that would mean I have to get out the camera, take pictures, upload to my computer and then wait for them to load to blog. Too much work so I will do a random post today :)

--------------------------------------------------
Big storms last night here in MN. Woke up @ 2 am to them. Went to close the window and found our sweet lil' Mya on my side of the bed sleeping on the floor...I like to think she was protecting her mama :)

--------------------------------------------------
Carolyn over @ Life, Love & Puppy Prints posted a photo to her instagram of her blog as an icon on her iPhone. Someone asked how she did it and she explained. Well I for sure had to do it and now pass it on to any other iPhone users to do the same!

Got your blog page in Safari...click on button that arrow shows. Select 'Add to Home Screen.

Type what you what the icon named. Then...bam, it's there :)

--------------------------------------------------
This is the current forecast for today...not pretty! And all that green stuff to the left...will be on is this afternoon probably! Looks like golf league won't be happening tonight! Bummer!

--------------------------------------------------
My birthday is coming up and I am so curious on what Tate is getting me. I only asked for 2 things...but he had said he had something else in mind. I'm very rarely surprised because I usually know EVERYTHING that's going on...it's a control thing...so I am super excited to find out what it is. Not excited about turning 29...but since it inevitable...I'll be for sure making the most of my last year in my 20's.

something I keep telling myself :)

Happy Thursday everyone! Tomorrow is Friday which mean the weekend is VERY close...and a long weekend on top of that! JACKPOT!!!

Dog Ticks and The Bachelorette

It's a good thing I DVR this show because I had started watching late. I was out on a run with Mya and noticed a patch of fur that looked funny on her. I bent down and looked and saw a tick starting to burrow into her skin. I freaked out of course and headed straight home. I was so tempted to stop at so many of my neighbors to ask them to get it off her since Tate was till at work.

I didn't end up stopping @ any neighbors but I did call Tate immediately. I started getting extreme anxiety thinking that this tick was going to kill my lil' baby! Tate said he was on his way home and was only about 15 minutes away. I then researched online what exactly we should to remove it.

I got out the tweezers, rubbing alcohol and triple antibiotic ointment. We also filled Mya's kong full of peanut to keep her busy while we removed the tick. Tate removed the tick...head and all with the tweezers and then put it in some rubbing alcohol. We then applied triple antibiotic ointment to the huge massive bump that was left behind. After leaving the tick in alochol for awhile, we then burned it to make sure it actually died.

Of course I freaked at first thinking my baby girl was going to die. Good thing...right now, she's ok. Hoping that the area doesn't get infected.

Now onto the real reason of this post...my thoughts on The Bachelorette!

Ryan got the first one on one date and I was so excited! I really like Ryan. I have this feeling that he will be in the final 3, but will not come away with Emily's heart.

There date consisted of doing Emily's everyday things. Helping with groceries and making snacks for her daughters soccer team. It was super cute. He of course was originally thinking they were going to go on some extravagant date. I was happy that Emily's first date was something elaborate because that is not what everyday life is going to be like with her. I think she is truly trying to find the 'right one' and doing it the right way.

Her next date was a group date and it had to do with raising money for one of Emily's favorite charities and The Muppets. The guys had to perform different skits. My heart went out for Charlie.

Charlie was in an accident and suffers still to this day from it. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and one thing that it affected was his speech. He was nervous about performing and is very insecure about it. He stepped aside and spoke to Emily about this and she was very understanding.

The last one on one date was with Joe.

Emily said she was really excited for this date. She said she thought he looked like Matthew McConaughey...which I thought was crazy. Then I saw him again on the screen and looked up a pic of Matthew...and she was right, they do look somewhat alike. Joe is like a 'smaller and shorter' version of Matthew.

They had a fancy date in West Virgina. I thought the whole date was awkward and that Emily wasn't 'feeling' it. She wasn't. She ended up sending him home during the date. I felt bad for her because he had no idea. She felt bad 'breaking up' with him.

Then it was time for cocktail hour. As always, it gets awkward when everyone tries to get one on one time with her. Some of them try way to hard and some don't try at all (or at least they don't show them trying).

In the end, she picked 16 guys to stay. The villan stayed to cause more drama for the show and everyone whom I like or think are frontrunners, are still there. The guys that went home, I wasn't surprised.

Now we have to wait another week to see what else happens on The Bachelorette and I need to go get tick repelent for Mya!!!

PS..I have been featured again over @ Better After...go check it out HERE!!!

Sleeping in the clouds

I've wanted to update our bedding for awhile now, but could never find just the right comforter, pattern or colors. It was time to do something because Tate and I were strongly disliking the frumpy colors that we currently had and the comforter had been through a beating in the 2.5 years it's been in use. Every time I would wash it, something new would pop up that was wrong with it. It was either a huge hole, threading coming undone or all the inside being on one side and making it lopsided looking.

This is what it has looked like since we bought the house and moved in. Well actually....the table on the left side of the photo was not there until about a year ago. I was sick of not having anything to put my phone on or a lamp, so I took an old table I had and just stuck it over there. Wishing now we would have gotten two night stands. Not liking how the lamps are on different levels. Going to look into and see if this furniture is still available.

The skirt that hides the beautiful wood base board and collects Mya's hair.

I also didn't like how the massive pillows were hiding the headboard. So I decided to go buy an alternative down comforter so that when we what to 'change' it up again, we can buy a duvet cover to insert the down comforter into.

I also bought some new pillow cases to add something different to the room. I really like how the head wood sticks out more and isn't drowned by the colors of the old comforter.

We decided to keep the bed skirt on, but to tuck it into the base board. That way, it still covers the box spring and shows the base board.

I like the change. I love the down comforter and the way the room lights up now and doesn't feel dark. I would like to do more to 'update' the room.

- New lamp shades
- Possibly spray paint lamp base with a pop of color
- Check to see if night stand is still available and purchase for my side of the bed (also measure to make sure it would fit)
- New ceiling fan
- Mirror on the wall behind our door so I don't have to walk downstairs when I get ready to see how my outfit looks (wow...that sounded really lazy. I think any female can back me up when we are trying on 5 different outfits and have to walk down 2 levels...it gets annoying) haha!
- Wall decor
- New candles for candle holders on wall

I've noticed that when I think everything that I want to do with the house...I get anxiety because I am a person that doesn't like to wait and wants it done as fast as possible. I've learned that I need to take a step back and only do one room at a time. I am currently working on the office, which is almost finished. I really wanted to update our bedding so I just quick did it and plan to come back to our bedroom to get everything else done on my list. I'm learning patience...

Friday Letters

Photobucket

I'm doing my first ever 'link up' with Ashley over @ Adventures of Newlyweds.
Stop over @ her blog and say hi!!!!

Dear Husband, I wish you were super anal and OCD about cleaning like I was. I mean...yes I know I make the bed when your still sleeping in it and I vacuum right in front of you when your watching TV...but I wish you would do the same to me. Imagine how immaculate our house would be if we were both super OCD about cleaning!

Dear Weekend, I am sooooooo glad you are here! Got big plans to see some super FABULOUS people and I can't wait. On Monday it felt like Saturday was FOREVER away...but your almost here and I can't stop smiling :)

Dear Weather, Thank you for this super nice weather! I even wore a dress to work today! I love having the sun shine...puts a smile on my face and makes me very happy.

Dear Co-worker, Thank you for being born today. Because you were born today...we get to have DQ cake this afternoon and I couldn't be more excited! I plan to have three one piece today and one everyday until it's gone! DQ cake is my favorite!

Dear someecards.com, I found the PERFECT card that sums up my life! Your cards always crack me up and I love reading them! Thank you for creating this one...

It seriously explains so much to so many people who always wonder about me :)
