Bathroom #2 = finished

I am so happy to announce that we have finished remodeling bathroom #2. This was the first project we started way back when...I don't like to think of when!

I'm so excited to reveal the finished product to you all!!!

Where we started...

We peeled off wallpaper and painted the walls. We replaced ALL the gold. We installed new counters and made many trips to our home improvement stores.

All our hard labor has paid off...all the money spent was totally ok!!

Love all the bronzed fixtures!!!

Framed artwork from Home Goods

Wine rack turned into towel rack. Idea from pinterest!

Beautiful new counters with bronzed fixtures!!!

Painted the old mirror

New bronzed door handles and towel holder!

It's done. We can cross it off the list!

We are still working on bathroom #1 and the kitchen! Glad it's getting cold out because then I don't feel bad staying in and painting :)

Halloween Party 2012

Tate and I had a small gathering at our house for Halloween! We actually invited a good amount of people, but there seemed to be lots of weddings this weekend and that limited our guests!

But even with a small crowd...we still know how to have fun :)

Banana & Cat -- Runner & Breastfeeding Mama
Pinterest Board & Willie Nelson -- Minnie Mouse & Psy (Gangnam style guy)

Deer in headlights -- Robin

The winner of our costume contest was Jill...Pinterest board! Very creative!

Yummy food was served...including Frankenstein fingers!!!
The house was not short of decor...I made many pinterest projects including the snake wreath!

We had the 'party' in the garage! Beer pong was played along with an intense game of tippy cup!

It was a really fun night where people drank to much and puked in our neighbors yard, couldn't make full sentences and a thumb wrestling contest where nobody won! Everyone got home safe and everyone is still able to function today...somewhat, I think :)

I'm sad that the Halloween Party weekend is over...but I am excited for Wed to get here so I can dress up again and hand out candy to all the kids!

I hope you all had a safe and fun Halloween weekend!!!

Celebration

We had so much fun celebrating our one year anniversary!

Tate went above and beyond...I am so lucky!

First and foremost...he didn't have to work ALL weekend which hasn't happened in about 4 months...so that in itself was a gift :)

He made all the plans for Saturday...

He started by making one of my favorite dinners....walleye and wild rice!

We then headed to Izzy's Ice Cream in St. Paul...one of my favorite ice cream shops!

After dinner and ice cream, he got tickets to a comedy show in Minneapolis. He knows I love to laugh and can't stop laughing @ a comedy show...so that's why he decided to take me there! Laughing is what I did...it was a blast!

After the comedy show...I was ready for bed! I mean, it was past 10 pm...way past my bed time ;)
But Tate said that he had more plans and it involved first going to get hot chocolate. I had no idea...until we pulled up and saw the horse carriage ride!

This is something I would have NEVER expected from him. I kept asking who told him to do this...but he insisted that he thought of it all on his own! I was impressed :)

Our horse was Marble...and he was great!

Sunday we woke up and headed to church like most Sundays. We then headed home and each went to our seperate rooms to watch football. The Packers and Vikings were playing @ the same time and we both HAD to watch our teams...and happily, both our teams WON!!!

We then attempted family pictures! This is something I want to do every year on our Anniversary.

Here is the that turned out of Tate and I!

And our outtakes with May. She was only interested in the tree!

Tate tried to pick her up...she wasn't having it!

Oh well...maybe Mya will cooperate next year!

After football ended...we headed to Ikea to get some more things for our bathroom remodel project and then to dinner. I was SOOO EXCITED for dinner! We were going out for sushi @ one of my fav places in St. Paul!

I don't actually eat real sushi...I have veggie rolls :) I also had teriyaki chicken skewers along with white rice & the special sauce that they always give you when you do teppanyaki. Tate had real sushi and wasabi wings!

After dinner...we headed home and finished our anniversary weekend with tradition. We ate pieces of our wedding cake (which was a bit dry, but Tate devoured it) and watching our wedding video!

I can't believe one year has already gone by! Like I told Tate...

One down...FOREVER to go :)

One Year

One year ago...

We became husband and wife!

We made a promise and vow in front of God, family and friends!

To be true to each other in good times and bad...in sickness and health.

To love and honor each other...

All the days of our lives!!

A vow I said then...the same vow I say today!
You are my everything and I am beyond blessed to have you as my husband and my best friend!

Today we celebrate our love!

Fitness Fun (Portion Control)

I wrote a fitness tip post awhile ago...and I have many topics on the back burner from my fitness husband....so I thought I would post one today!

Today is all about PORTION CONTROL!!!

How many of you have went to a restaurant recently and ordered a burger, wrap or sandwich and when it came out...it was the size of your head?!?!

It seems like restaurants are trying to 'one up' each other on how big of portions they give. The problem is not just restaurants, I know quite a few people that do this same thing at home.

Overeating leads to obesity and weight gain. It can also lead to health problems such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes.

Controlling your portion sizes is vital to managing your weight.

To prevent over eating...

1. use a smaller plate.
2. keep portion sizes smaller than your palm.
3. eat slower.
4. stop eating when your body tells you it's full

Portion sizes are not the only reason Americans are at the highest obesity rate ever (two-thirds of Americans are overweight or obese), but it definitely is a larger factor.

The next time you cook a meal or go to a restaurant, don't forget that a To-Go box and leftovers are a good choice.
