Special day

Today is a very special day for a few reasons! Not only is it my super fabulous hubby and my 8 year dating anniversary and our 6 month wedding anniversary...it's also our fur baby's birthday!

I can't believe it's already been 6 months since we said 'I do'. I also can't believe that 8 years ago today...we went on our very first date! I still remember that day like it was yesterday. I remember feeling nervous and had those butterflies. 6 months ago, I had those same feelings as I married my best friend. Today is a celebration of our love and how much we've grown since that very first date. Tate, I love you more and more every day. My endless laughter and constant smiling is because you make me so happy. I count my blessings everyday!! I am so lucky!!

6 months ago...on our special day

Another reason today is so SPECIAL, Mya is turning 3 years old! We adopted her when she was only 3 months old! She was so tiny with these big ears and paws!

These pictures were taken in the first 5 days of adopting her

She brings so much joy to our lives! She knows all the tricks and continues to be super hyper. She is always great to meet us @ the door with a big 'smile'. I love that she is always so excited to see us!

Up north playing with one of her many sticks

I always get great pictures of her. You would think she is like 'modeling' or knows that she is getting her picture taken!

My most recent picture...she was super happy after a run with Momma!

Life would be so boring without our sweet little girl. I look forward to the many year we have ahead of us with her. We look forward to the day we give her some siblings (not yet).

Besides giving her many treats and toys for her birthday...we decided to sign her up for obedience classes. Even though she knows many things and we get compliments on how well behaved she is, we are excited for her to learn new things. We hope she can learn to come when we call and that our walks/runs can go smoothly without her pulling at all times!

Happy Happy Birthday Mya!!! Love you very much!

The Vow

I just finished reading this book this morning at the gym. WOW...is all I can say. I saw the movie when it came out and really wanted to read the book also to be able to get the real life story and not the movie version.

I thought the movie was good...except for the ending! I definitely cried during it. All I could think of all the 'what if's' for my own life. I understand the movie was inspired by a true story...but it still made me cry that a couple actually went though this. The reason I didn't like the ending because you never know actually what happens to the couple. I know they changed many things in the movie from what happened in real life...but the ending was pretty abrupt, I thought. They did have some words at the end that told you what actually happened to the couple in real life, but it would have been nice to be seen.

Another reason I really liked the movie was because of the actors. I mean...Channing Tatum is not that bad to look and I LOVE Rachel McAdams. Loved her in 'The Notebook' and I thought she did great in this movie also.

After reading the book, I can definitely say that the movie is NOTHING like the book. I know they changed it up to make it more entertaining...but they changed it up A LOT! The only thing that is the same between the book and the movie was that there was an accident and she lost her memory of her husband. THAT'S IT! Very disappointing. Even though I love the leading characters of the movie, that I cried and thought it was a great love story...I like the book better!

The book was very inspiring! It is a beautiful love story and an amazing journey of this couple and their trust in God. It's nice to read a story about a couple who against all odds...stayed together when so many people would have understand if they had given up. They made that vow when they got married and they stuck to it. They trusted that the Lord had given them this path for a reason and that they never gave up on each other.

I would definitely recommend this book to anybody to read. It's one of those books that remind you that God works in such mysterious and wonderful ways. It reminds you to count your blessings and to never take your loved ones for granted! It brings back memories of the day you made that vow with your spouse and what it meant. I am so glad I read it.

I really like reading fiction books...so I'm wondering if any of you have some books to recommend that I add to my list?

TAX Day

Today is a great day for all CPA's!!! Today is the day we get to sleep more, get our weekends back and get to see sunshine! Ok..so it's not as bad as it sounds, but for some...it's worse than that!

Have you filed your tax return or extension?

Hopefully you did not have to fork over $$

Don't we all!!!

Not very many people 'heart' tax day...but I do :)

I'll be enjoying a few of these later with my GREAT co-workers! After a long and hard 3 months...we definitely deserve this!

We will be having our 'tax party' @ a comedy club. I look forward to good food, drinks and many good laughs!!!

OH HAPPY DAY :)

Table to Desk...in process

My next DIY project is turning this old, plain and small kitchen table into a beautiful desk and chairs!

This was my first kitchen table when I lived alone right after college. I lived in a small one bedroom apartment and it was perfect for just me. I got it from Ikea for $99. After Tate and I purchased a new kitchen table last fall...I wasn't sure what we would do with this one. After some thought...I realized our current desk in our office (which I also purchased from Ikea when I lived alone) is really small and that if I 'updated' this small table, it would be perfect for a desk.

My plans for the table is to stain the top part a dark walnut color and paint the bottom portion an off-white color. I sanded the table and chairs first and then started staining first. I stained the top first because I new that would be the messiest part and wouldn't want any stain to get on the bottom portion after I had already painted it white.

These are pictures of the stain 'setting'. I put it on using a foam brush and let it sit for a good 20 minutes. I then wiped it off with an old t-shirt. I repeated this about 3 times because it wasn't as dark as I would have liked it.

I used Minwax in a dark walnut finish. After I wiped off the stain for a third time...it was time to let it dry and see if it was dark enough.

This is the project I have been working on Sunday's during tax season. It has been fun and very time consuming. I can't wait for it to be finished and show you the final product.

More to come...

Easter

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter spending time with family and friends. Tate and I attended 8:30 mass and it was packed. After mass we headed down to my Grandparents for a day of food, family and fun!

Sunny day = squinty eyes

After enjoying a very yummy lunch...a group of us played Phase 10. We've played this for MANY years at my grandparents for all the different holidays we get together for. It's a fun game and I would highly recommend it.

Besides a great meal cooked by my Grandma, she bought a DQ cake and it was A-M-A-ZING! I gave up treats for lent so a piece of DQ cake was the perfect treat to have after these 40 days!

Look how cute the bunnies were...almost too cute to eat!

Happy Vitamin C Day

Did you know that today commemorates the discovery of Vitamin C in 1932? I didn't either. Our admin had another one of their 'fun' day's and emailed us this information and I thought it would only be necessary to forward it all on to my fellow bloggers :)

Citrus fruits are the most commonly known sources of Vitamin C, however most fruits and many vegetables are also a good sources of this vitamin.

What fruit has the best source of Vitamin C? If you thought Oranges...you are wrong. It is actually 1-cup serving of cubed raw guava. It provides 377mg of  Vitamin C. Some other fruits that are great for Vitamin C are peach slices (frozen) and 2 medium-sized kiwi without skin. [source]

What about veggies? The best vegetable for Vitamin C is a yellow sweet bell pepper. Peppers of all kinds are very rich in Vitamin C. Other vegetables and vegetables juices that are rich in Vitamin C are V8 juice and one hot green chili pepper. Green veggies are also Vitamin C rich. [source]

To celebrate this day, our amazing admin staff made fruit and veggie pizza's for us to enjoy! They are the best!!!!
